Virent delivers jet fuel to Air Force for testing
Virent, a Madison, Wisconsin, based biofuels company, has announced that the Company has delivered 100 gallons of its demonstration drop-in jet fuel to the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory for testing to determine whether the fuel meets the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) specifications for jet fuel. Early in 2011, President Obama announced an initiative to help encourage and facilitate the development and commercialization of U.S. advanced drop-in biofuels for military and commercial use. DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products Company LLC
Earlier this week, DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products Company LLC announced that it has partnered with RML, Inc. to develop a new line of alternative preservatives for use in the cosmetics and personal care market. Rennovia Demonstrates 100% Biobased Nylon
Renewable chemical company, Rennovia, has announced that it has successfully demonstrated production of renewable hexamethylenediamine (HMD). This renewable HMD, combined with the company's renewable adipic acid, has allowed Renovia to make for the first time a 100% renewable nylon, Nylon-6,6. Toray Announces Demonstration Of Biobased PBT
Tokyo-based chemicals and plastics company, Toray Industries, has announced that it has successfully demonstrated a partially biobased polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) using Genomatica Inc.'s biobased 1,4-butanediol (BDO). The company reports that testing shows that the partial biobased PBT has properties equivalent to PBT made from petroleum-based BDO.
